Adults medicine wheel retreat 2 – 29-31 October, 2021.
Location: Wick Farm, Wick, Nr Langport, Somerset. TA10 0NL
At the time of Samhain, (pronounced sow-hane), we turn our thoughts to those who have passed, the changing of the season to autumn, embracing the inhalation of winter, and drawing in our resources. The earth has two halves to its year, the exhale of the spring and summer, and inhale of autumn and winter. This time invites us to harvest and go within, to really be with the darkness and hold our flames of hope.
As children we would have celebrated this as halloween, and dressed up to spook one another. This is rooted in old traditions where the connections to lost ancestors would have been honoured. Our very being on this earth is because you were the dream of your ancestors. It took over 4000 of them in the last 400 years to bring you here to this time. What hopes would they have had for your life?
And now, in the midst of a climate crisis, we are being called upon to live in balance as our ancestors did. Do you feel called to gift yourself some time to come into quietness and contemplation, live close to the land, gather as a tribe and call forth our direction as we head into COP 26 and winter?
Join a small group (circa 10 adults) in a log burner heated yurt in Somerset, for a weekend close to nature for the halloween weekend. We’ll use the teachings of the native American medicine wheel to orientate the weekend and bring us into connection.
Beginning with calling in the elements, we will invoke the great teachers and ancestors as we learn presence and oneness. We’ll explore dreaming – our own dream and the collective dream, calling in our capacity to remember what we came for at this time and how we might awaken. Looking to the transformative cycles on the moon and cycles of life ,the weekend will peak with a visit to an installation of a replica of the moon in Wells Cathedral, with a full play through of Pink Floyd’s dark side of the moon.
Come be in council fires, ceremonial space, and gift yourself (and therefore the world) some time in connection...
