You came for this
"When the earth is ravaged and the animals are dying, a new tribe of people shall come unto the earth from many colours, classes, creeds, and who by their actions and deeds shall make the earth green again. They will be known as Warriors of the Rainbow."
— Old Native American prophecy
This time has been prophesied.
The aboriginals believed that the fires in Australia in 2020 heralded the firing up of the solar plexus or power centre of the word. Ayres Rock/Uluru is on the connected key lines or dragon lines of the earth that represent the lines of energy that flow through earth chakras just as we have chakras in our body, and January 2020 saw ceremonies and solar flares which were deemed to activate all the energy centres of the world. This was to call in a new age of living in balance and harmony on the planet. This was just before the pandemic that has given all of humanity a shared challenge and interrupted the status quo.

Native Americans have long talked of a rainbow generation where red faced Indians are incarnated into white faces around the world and this group bring unity on earth. Peruvians have talked about the condor and the eagle flying together to herald peace on earth, and the Mayans prophesied 2012 as the change in epoch. Maybe 2021 was a typo!
Anyway, the point is…
that the indigenous tribes of the world have coalesced around the idea that we are in a magnificent shift. Not news you might feel – but the shift is in the collective. It can’t happen if we don’t shift at the scale of the individual.
Indigenous tribes represent 6% of the population of the planet, yet preserve 85% of the biodiversity. Their ways of knowing and behaving enable them to live harmoniously with nature. We have much to learn from their ways of relating that allow them to live in balance. Our western way of being has been characterised by mass consumption to the point that we are out of balance at the individual and collective level.
Tribes around the world have been more willing to share their knowledge in recognition of our shared emergency. The Kobi have been warning of our ways for a while and the need to reduce collective reliance on fossil fuels.
As our leaders meet at COP26, it happens at a time of meditation circles coming together in every corner of the planet to hold the intention that this time we may truly come together to find a way to live in balance on our shared planet. In the medicine circle of the delicate lodge, the lineage I have learned, the south represents diversity, where we learn to value all different points of view and embrace them as strength.
Inevitably, here lies conflict too, and we learn to respect, listen, observe and allow, including with tolerance and compassion.
We can use the medicine wheel teachings in our daily lives to change at the individual level, which in turn affects the energy field in the collective. It is clear that the mass consumption of the west has compromised many other territories and peoples. Somewhat reasonably, here lies conflict. The medicine wheel teaches us to meet conflict and embrace different points of view to move forward in the collective dream of life. This is needed now as the whole planet will need to resolve, heal, restore and respect diversity of opinion as regards climate change and our way through.
In the east of the wheel, lies the energy of grandfather sun. He who illuminates, and gives us ‘all potential’. Often when we feel blocked, its because we can’t imagine another way forwards. The east of the medicine wheel calls on an energy to bring in all possibilities, whether we are aware of them or not. It is this energy we need now, as we come to commit to the planet at COP and then live the commitments. We need to dream a new way of living, and that lies in all potential.
In the north of the wheel is the heart mind.
This is where we live our truth and integrity – it’s not the same as our thinking mind which has a tendency towards ego or lack, and what can drive our consumptive behaviours, careers, competitiveness. Our hearts know the truth and allow us to live in right action. Often we have to drop out of brain mind, to heart mind to make better quality decisions, and it is here where our ‘right action’ lives. As we transition to a fairer planet, with a stronger sense of our interconnectedness with nature, we will need to live in our heart minds to transition from brain based decision making to heart mind decision making.
Over in the west of the wheel lies grandmother earth wisdom.
She who sustains, heals and balances. This is the great mother who supports us all. It is her ability to resource and grow our dreams that is needed now. We’ve ravaged her, and now need to love and restore her, as she has loved and restored us. She lives opposite grandfather sun in the wheel, so where potential lives and burns bright, so too can it be earthed and developed into being. Connecting to the mother energy will be key to our collective survival of the climate crisis.
In the south east of the wheel lie our ancestors.
It takes roughly 4000 ancestors to bring you to this life today, and in all likelihood, you are a future ancestor. Your very life on this planet at this time was the dream of your parents and ancestors. What would they want for you here and now? What would they hope you would be? How much did they have to endure in their lifetimes to get you to here today? How can we honour that? What part would they want you to play in the context of the climate crisis? You may not believe that your ancestors stay with you, but on one level they run through your DNA, a light body matrix that is at the core of your being. You are the embodiment of their lifetimes and experiences. Your life now at a time of great change is an extraordinary opportunity, and there are schools of thought that think you chose to be here in this body at this time. What will you do with this one magnificent life?
Which brings me to purpose…
Finding our true purpose (as opposed to our career or our job) lives in the south west of the wheel, where our dream of life lives. It is referred to as remembering and awakening. Tribes would go on vision quest to remember why they incarnated now, and awaken to their path. It feels like we are on collective vision quest at the moment. When questing, a seeker would take clues from nature and spirit to listen into the messages for their next steps. Animals are allies and carry messages, as are plants.
Humans live in disconnection and have hubris in thinking we are outside of the system, yet we live in interrelatedness at all times. This is in the north west of the wheel, where dreaming lives. There is our individual dream for our lives, the collective dream (we’re dreaming a new planet into being now) and there’s night dreams and day dreams. Often, we can receive messages in our dreams, so it is worth paying attention to how they can inform our next steps. They may be symbols, warnings, gifts or connections. The dreaming is an essential part of our walk in beauty on this earth.
So the medicine wheel, which has over 100 versions around the world, common to indigenous people can support our individual and collective life journeys.
When we enter the circle we honour ‘all of our relations’, meaning a connection to the winged, finned, crawling, standing people (trees), rocks, minerals, water, sky people (clouds, stars etc). This is to honour and acknowledge our place in an interconnected system of energies and intelligences. The climate crisis with its focus on green house gases and warming has missed or disconnected from the species extinction which goes hand in hand. When we live carrying our connection to all relations, we make different decisions to tread lighter on the earth.
It is in these ways the sacred hoop of the medicine wheel can support our life on this planet and why its wisdom is being shared more widely to support our collective journey. It isn’t something to intellectually learn, but something to live as energies to call in to support our lives. I’ve known people living the wheel for 20 years or more, and it changes daily and underpins their lives and ways of being.

The climate crisis is real.
The wheel offers us a navigation system for these times, and if you feel this resonate deep in the core of your being, where you know there’s something in here for you, then come join us and learn/live the wheel. I run regular teachings on introduction to the wheel. Get in touch.
